Project Description

A major refurbishment was undertaken this year in the main boilerhouse on the campus. All plant, equipment, pipework, controls, lighting, fire alarm, gas detection systems were replaced. The original 3nr Buderus cast Iron sectional boilers were replaced with 3Nr Hamworthy Wessex modular boilers providing an overall capacity of 2157kW over 9nr modules. Not only does this allow for future expansion it will also allow for a significant increase in efficiency in operation. The original copper calorifiers were replaced with ACV stainless steel tank in tank units which provide fast and efficient hot water generation for the Hospital. The increase in the surface area of the heat transfer medium allowed us to reduce the overall water storage by around 50%. The finished project is testament to the dedication, skill, professionalism and sheer determination displayed by John Larkin (G&J Engineering) and his team who have brought our design vision to fruition in spectacular fashion. Well done to all involved.
