About Us
Homan O’Brien was formed in 1990 by the amalgamation of two long established consulting engineering practices, Robert Jacob and Partners (1955) and Seamus Homan Associates (1978).
Since its foundation, the practice has become firmly established for the excellence of its design concepts coupled with its committed policy of value for money engineering solutions.
Sustainable Engineering Design Solutions
Homan O’Brien are recognised as pioneers in Sustainable Engineering Design Solutions in Ireland over the last 20 years and have achieved a number of notable firsts in Irish Engineering.
Homan O’Brien designed from first principles the first Ice Bank Thermal Storage System in Ireland in Beresford Court in 1992, the concept of which has been copied ever since.

We are affiliated to a number of professional bodies including Engineers Ireland, Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Institute of Healthcare Engineers and Estate Managers and the European Federation of National Engineering Associations.
The practice is renowned for pioneering innovative design solutions which is reflected in the numerous awards achieved to date.
