The 264-bedroom facility comprises a 200-bed extension providing a range of accommodation choices tailored to meet the needs of residents with dementia and other mental health impairments, and an upgrade of 64 high dependency beds and Alzheimer’s care beds. Construction of 3 new blocks on a greenfield site connected by a ground floor link corridor for Nursing Home 6,033m2 /Mental Health 5,410m2 / Short Stay 941m2. Also, construction of a new single storey extension to the existing HDU / Care buildings which will be integrated into the new blocks and will incorporate a new kitchen, dining and chapel. New Alzheimer’s Care Centre, 15,000m² building to include high security rooms. Two new car parks with 120 car spaces and 48 cycle spaces. The briefing for this project was to include a series of staged handovers to allow partial occupation which opened up work in other existing areas for refurbishment. The Highfield Nursing Home and Alzheimer’s Care Centre remained fully occupied and operational during the construction period.
