The Tierney Building, UL

New Build circa 4,000sq.m. The UL Innovation Centre offers dedicated units for supporting new technology based businesses together with two fully equipped research laboratory suites, boardrooms, meeting rooms and ancillary support services.

Homan O’Brien carried out Design, Supervision and Certification of all Mechanical, Electrical & Lift Services Installations. The existing UL MV electrical supply was upgraded and extended to cater for the Tierney Building.   Complete general services / small power busbar installations and IT structured cabling systems were provided, distributed within the raised floor void. Energy efficient internal and external lighting was provided with presence detection control provided to the corridor and toilet / lobby areas throughout. Emergency illumination was provided to the required standards, incorporating LED technology. Disabled access, disabled refuge communication and disabled persons toilet alarm systems were provided as required. A 10 person, single side entry, machine roomless type passenger lift was provided, serving ground, first, second and third floor levels.

The Tierney Building is located in the centre of the UL Campus. The construction of this building involved adjustments to existing site services and numerous connections into existing campus networks, including gas, water, electricity, fire alarm, security and IT voice / data services.
