DWELLINGS

TGD L 2019 for dwellings have been ceased from 26 July 2021. The new TGD L 2021 came into effect from 27 July 2021 and will be applicable to all the new buildings, extensions of the existing building, or buildings in which a material alteration or change of use or major renovation takes place, replacement of external doors, windows and roof lights. The following changes have been introduced in the new TGD L 2021:

1. Residential buildings both new and buildings undergoing major renovation with more than 10 parking spaces must install at least one EV charging point. This is applicable to basement car park or car park adjacent to the building. If the car park is shared by multiple building in a campus, the same guidance would be applicable.

2. Residential buildings both new and buildings undergoing major renovation with more than 10 parking spaces must install ducting infrastructure for minimum 1 in 5 number of car parking spaces to enable upcoming installation of recharging points for EVs. Ducting infrastructure incorporates cable ladders, cable trunking systems, conduit, cable trays, etc as outline in National Rules for Electrical Installations I.S. 10101:2020.

The above points apply to projects where the submission of a notice in respect of the building work has been made on or after 11 th March 2021. Please refer section 1.4.6 of TGD L 2021 – Dwellings for further guidance.

BUILDINGS OTHER THAN DWELLINGS

TGD L 2017 for buildings other than dwellings have been ceased from 26 July 2021. The new TGD L 2021 came into effect from 27 July 2021 and will be applicable to all the new buildings, or buildings in which a material alteration or change of use or major renovation takes place, where the work, material alteration or the change of use commences or takes place. The following changes have been introduced in the new TGD L 2021:

1. Non-residential buildings both new and building undergoing major renovation with more than 10 parking spaces must install at least one EV charging point. This is applicable to basement car park or car park adjacent to the building. If the car park is shared by multiple building in a campus, the same guidance would be applicable.

2.
